T13 #5: Thirteen favorite movies

Thirteen Movies I could watch over and over and… well you get the picture
.

1. The Lord of the Rings (Best. Movie. Ever. Shot in my favorite country, based on my favorite book, starring shitloads of fantastic and/or seriously good-looking actors. What more could anybody want? All 3 parts, for me they count as one movie, after all it’s just one book as well.)

2. Serenity (That should have been obvious. It’s got Nathan in it, after all…and not in any role, but as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. It doesn’t get any better than this. Keep your *bleep*ing Star Wars, Star Trek, Alien and everything else. There’s no place I can wanna be since I found Serenity.)

3. The English Patient (The movie that make me fall in love with Ralph Fiennes. Well, to be honest, actually I fell in love with him in Schindler’s List – but that film is so harrowing and his character in there was just so… well, lets just say, it doesn’t sound all too healthy to fall in love with him playing a Nazi. )

4. I, Robot (I am a big fan of Will Smith, but in this one it’s actually Sonny I like best.)

5. Equilibrium (Christian Bale – need I say more? Actually, yes: the gun fight scenes are awesome, better than in Matrix.)

6. Pirates of the Caribbean (Have seen only part one so far, but Johnny Depp can do no wrong in my eyes, savvy?)

7. Terminator II (First part wasn’t too bad either, but I like that Sarah Connor is such a badass fighter woman in the second one. The third one is just crap. And, bloody hell, I have to get me one of these posters! I always wanted my very own Terminator – not the one looking like Arni, but this one with the shiny steel and the gleaming red eyes.)

8. The Shipping News (Kevin Spacey as a loser, who finds first himself and then somebody to love. Beautiful.)

9. Love the hard way (Adrien Brody in a bitter-sweet love story that doesn’t really have a happy end. Plus, it’s got one of the best soundtracks ever.)

10. Lara Croft (Either one. I know, they are crap-movies. I don’t care that there is no plot. But there’s Angelina Jolie. I watch the movies only to watch her. And the second one’s got Gerrard Butler as well. Pure eye candy.)

11. Indiana Jones (Especially the third one, but basically they are all great, because I grew up with them and I always wanted to be like Indy. Besides: Harrison Ford. I used to have a big crush on him as a teenager – always had a thing for older guys.)

12. Titanic (I know, it’s totally soppy and all, but it’s just a visually stunning movie. Best watched on a real big screen – just like LOTR. I used to think of Leonardo DiCaprio as just some pretty-faced upstart, but I had to concede since then that he is actually a fantastic actor. And the older he gets, the better I think he looks.)

13. A Knight’s Tale (Heath Ledger is pure eye candy, but what I most love about the movie is Paul Bettany. I would always prefer a funny guy over one that’s just pretty. Of course, if he’s both – like, for instance, Nathan Fillion – it’s a welcome bonus.)

Any movie with Christian Bale shirtless is a-ok with me!
Great list, I may have to go rent some of those.
My list is up!
You listed some great movies! I agree with you on a lot, but i still love Star Trek.
I bought A Knight’s Tale on DVD, because there’s a video with Robbie Williams on it, but the movie turned out to be great too!
My TT is a list of 13 things I do on the computer.
Sweet list. Personally, I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy are such epic movies that they can almost stand in a category by themselves. Even visually, they have such an epic feel to them.
Happy Thursday Thirteen!
Especially #12 for me! Happy TT!
I also LOVE Serenity! I mean I’m a big Firefly fan! Fun list!
Some good movies there. Definitely agree with you on Serenity, Indiana Jones (although bizarrely the third one os my least favourite), and Titanic.
