Some good choices (agree with you totally about Stardust, disagree with you totally about Dark Knight). My favourite ones are Goldfinger and a bunch of Stephen Kings (Stand By Me, The Dead Zone, Shawshank Redemption), but that's probably down to my not reading much else that gets made into movies.

The only ones there where I have read the entire book and seen the movie are the two Stephen King ones, and they were both excellent. I'd add The Green Mile to your list. I saw Harold & Maude, and Girl With A Pearl Earing, but haven't read the books.

There's one on your list of which I read about a dozen chapters, but then cast it aside because it was so dull. I saw the movie of it but fell asleep. So we don't agree on everything!

I dunno. Girl with a Pearl Earring lost something for me. But I wouldn't take it off the list, either. I'd have to add To Die For, though. That was one movie that was better than the book.

I wonder if the order in which you read/see affects how you feel about this subject... Hmmm....

I have seen most of these movies and had nightmares after watching The Shining. I can't tolerate movies like that. Even now. You see, I haven't matured at all (to think that it's just a movie and the scary people are just ACTORS).

I love this post! Mostly because I remember watching these movies! HA!! We've seen a lot of movies but they mostly don't stick with me. Thanks for great picks!

I have seen all but 3 of these (#1, #2 amd #13) and I agree with your opinion on them. I also love the film adaptations of the Narnia movies.
