Everybody lies

…the only variable is about what

Grrr! Argh!

Well now, who else could have made me break my blogging break but my personal hero Joss Whedon?

Exactly nobody.

Joss, along with most of his fellow writers in Hollywood, is on strike. Ironically his having put the pencil down, so to speak, is the very fact that got me to pick mine up again. Go, figure.joss-striking.jpg

As with everything Whedon-related I found the news about the WGA strike and what Joss had to say about it on Whedonesque. I am not a writer myself (even though I would love to be), but I can say only one thing: I wish I was in L.A. right now to join that picket line. And not for the free pizza only. ;)

I don’t want to re-hash the arguments why the writers obviously are right in their decision to go on strike (read James Gunn’s latest blog post for that). Let me just quote Brenda Lawthorn from the fans4writers site:

“As fans, obviously we want to see our shows back on the air as soon as possible. But at the same time, we recognize that it’s the writers who make these shows so compelling, and they need to get fair compensation for the work they do.”

Amen. So, even though many of my favorite shows are affected by this strike, I am absolutely, wholeheartedly standing behind the writers. If that means I have to live without new episodes of House, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy or Desperate Housewives for a while that’s alright with me.
