First day in school
It didn’t really feel like being back in school, mainly because I had much more fun today than I ever had there. For the next 2 weeks all I’m gonna have is a computer course, before the proper lectures will start in November.
I wasn’t exactly looking forward to “learning how to use Word and Excel properly”. Not because I thought I knew it all (not nearly), but because I am just not interested in much of the more specialized stuff you can do with these programs. I’d much rather learn more about Photoshop.
But it was great. Not only did most of my classmates turn out to be not nearly as stuck up and, quite frankly, assoholic as I had feared after the first day last week (in fact, most of them seem rather nice, only I still have trouble remembering all their names).
But the best thing was the teacher. He’s got a great sense of humor and treated the course more like a workshop and let us more or less decide what we wanted to hear about. Great, I wish more of my teachers would have had this laid-back attitude when I was in school. I might even have gone there of my own free will sometimes in that case. I learned a lot of neat little things today. Nothing revolutionary, but definitely stuff that’ll make my life a lot easier if I ever have to write another scientific paper again.
The only downside: the guy is cute as hell. Yes, that is a downside. Not only does it distract me from whatever he is talking about, because I am thinking of things that have not in the least anything to do with computers. Also, it’s quite depressing, because after those 2 weeks I will very probably never see the guy again. The story of my life. (And please don’t tell me to just ask him out. I can’t, and anyway he is way out of my league.)
Well, at least it’s nice to know that there is at least one cute guy in this town…

Well – at least you’re not taking one of those crazy Science classes again! Or, are you?
I use Word and Excel every day in my job. Trust me, they are both worth learning, as you’ll probably run into using them both at some point in life.
Good luck! With the course and the instructor!
Oh, disregard my last statement about taking a “crazy Science class again.” I just read down a bit and saw the words—Molecular Biology. Makes me shudder…
LOL
Waht’s so bad about molecular biology? I actually look forward to playing around in a lab again, running a PCR, fiddling around with a sequenzer, maybe learn how to clone my dog should the need ever arise. Doesn’t that sound like fun to you?
