Etsy Finds – Week 23-2009

posted on Tuesday, June, 2nd, 2009 in etsy finds

More interesting stuff found on Etsy. It’s funny, before I discovered Etsy, I never thought I’d develop such an interest in jewellery. Nowadays I almost understand why normal women could buy new pieces every couple of days. There are just so many nifty things out there that are adorable to look at.

(But the shoe tick is still a mystery to me.)

Kiwiland

This is probably one of my favorite random finds on Etsy, because those bone carvings remind me of my stay in New Zealand, which was the best year of my life so far. Pendants carved from bone are a Maori tradition and nowadays very popular with tourists. And it’s not hard to see why, because they often are very intricate and beautiful. I wear one of those spirals myself.

The designs traditionally all have different meanings, which I don’t really give much thought to, since I am not Maori myself, obviously. I just find them beautiful.

Leah Giberson

Interesting artwork by Leah Giberson. Her subjects are sometimes a bit bizarre or puzzling, but I really like the style of her paintings. And – even though I have never been inside one yet – I love camping trailers.

Unexpected Expectancy

Beautiful jewellery from Kaileigh. She’s still quite new on Etsy, but her inventory shows a few great things already and I am curious as to what else is coming up.

My favorite piece so far is the fish necklace. I just have a thing for fish, I don’t know why. :)

The Intuitive Garden

Interesting handcrafted jewellery, made from photos, digital illustrations or drawings. There are some really nice pieces there.

Shawna Erback

More beautiful, dreamy paintings. I really couldn’t say why, but the atmosphere in these paintings reminds me of Neil Gaiman’s stories. (Since Neil is one of my favorite authors that’s a compliment.) I wouldn’t mind putting some of those up on my walls.
